The "2001 UK Samba & Lambada Championships" took place on
 8th June at the Notre Dame Venue in Leicester  Square, London.

 The 1st Prize for Lambada Advanced Level was a weekend for two
 in Paris (tickets and Hotel worth £500), sponsored  by Bloomberg.
 The 1st Prize for Samba was £200 cash sponsored by an anonymous
 admirer of Brazilian dances. He also sponsored  the trophies.

 There was live "batucada" (drums) for the Samba Contestants as well
 as dance show with Beija-Flor Dance Group.  There were 15 girls straight
 from Paris to compete Samba. The Venue was packed and the party
 went on until 2am.
